RemoteTreeChildren - Blood Pressurize
[The Reborn Identity’s Hypertension Mix]

“I know I’m the shit ’cause you’re with me”

RemoteTreeChildren is an ambient electronic partnership between singer-songwriter Glen Phillips and producer John Askew, and takes the former Toad the Wet Sprocket singer’s music further away from his rock and folksy roots into deep, dark electro territory. The RemoteTreeChildren album, Veteran of the Loudness Wars, is available for free download (or whatever you want to pay for it) here - go check it out.

There are several outstanding tracks on the album, including the unignorable ”World of Warcraft disco” of You Will Be Pwned and the brooding, strutting love song, Blood Pressurize. It’s the latter I’ve tackled here, cranking up the tempo and recasting it as an even more intense electro track. If anyone fancies remixing the track themselves, you can pick up the stems here.

Solar Flare artwork

Glen Phillips - Solar Flare (Proton Storm Mix)

After a long string of mashups I thought it was about time I flexed my remixing muscles. The latest track to receive the remix treatment is another number from Glen Phillips - a singer-songwriter very close to my heart. Solar Flare, from Glen’s recent Secrets of the New Explorers EP, is probably the most joyful song ever written about being stripped down to your atoms.

Secrets of the New Explorers EP

Glen Phillips - The Spirit of Shackleton
(The Lost In Space Mix by The Reborn Identity)

Following on from the mashups I put together using the Glen Phillips track The Spirit of Shackleton (from the Secrets of the New Explorers EP) I also put together a full remix of the track. The aim was to produce a more club-friendly version, which I hope has been successful. If you fancy putting together your own mix of the track, head over to the Glen Phillips website to download the source files.
