G.I. Jolene

Dolly Parton vs Stan Ridgway - G.I. Jolene
Dolly Parton’s Jolene appears to be about a woman’s fear of losing her man to a more attractive rival, but isn’t it also about the fear of losing him to war? Well no, it’s not - at least not until you mix it with Stan Ridgway’s Camouflage. Like Home and Dry ‘77, the idea for this track came from my brother, Calum, but I can at least take credit for the composition and the superfluous intro from Paul Hardcastle’s 19.
